Hula Bay Club Review

Last night, Jeff and I went to Hula Bay Club in Tampa. I'd never been before but Jeff said it was a great place to grab a drink, relax, and enjoy the view of the Bay - which after the day he's had, was much needed.

The restaurant was full but not overly crowded and we were seated right away at a high top on the patio with a great view.  It was cool inside the restaurant but pleasant out on the patio.

We arrived in time for happy hour (Tuesday-Friday from 4-7PM) and there were a few items on the menu the vegan could enjoy -- which, was more than usual for many of these sea side sea food eateries. There was a delightful looking Hawaiian Citrus Salad with "crisp greens with baby arugula, candied walnuts and roasted sunflower kernels, citrus selections and savory blue cheese with Hula's Hawaiian honey citrus dressing."

After some discussion, the meat eater and I decided to go with chips & guacamole (not on the menu but we asked for it) and the Fat Hippie Sushi: cucumber, asparagus, sprouts, arugula and pickled carrot. The two items don't go together, at all, but that's what I was hungry for.
Chips & guacamole

The chips and guac was good, we realized it's probably what the restaurant normally uses for on sandwiches and burgers but was great with chips.

Fat Hippie Sushi

The Fat Hippie Sushi was especially tasty and Jeff & I ended up ordering a second plate of it after devouring the first.  The Fat Hippie was very well packed and the variety of veggies in it was perfect.

There weren't as many options for the vegan I'd like to see, but enough as to where the view from the outdoor deck and laid back atmosphere would bring me and my meat eater to come back soon.
